Columbia Men's Woodburn II Waterproof Trail Running Shoe.
This review is for the following item(s): Columbia Men's Woodburn II Waterproof Trail Running Shoe. The shoes in question were sold & delivered by Amazon. I am rating them as a 5 star product. These shoes fit perfectly, look great and have to be the comfiest hiking shoe I have ever owned.... I have had a few brands in my time such as adidas terrex, Reebok & Solomon gortex units as I live in Scotland, so a breathable waterproof shoe is a must for me. The break in time was zero & felt great from the minute I put them on. These units are the waterproof version of this model & boast the following two great technologies: omni-tech & techlite. The hiking trainers in question retail on the manufacturer UK website for £90 so I got a fantastic bargain at the time of this review (09.05.2020). Its important that I have a good quality & comfy shoe with decent support due to a back injury. It is very doubtful moving forward that I will ever change from Columbia for my everyday waterproof hikers unless they change their very high standards. Well done Columbia & thank you Amazon for providing these trainers at a great price. Please note I am not an Amazon vine reviewer therefore the product(s) mentioned are purchased using my own hard earned cash.
Survived 2 Years and numerous backpacking trips!
Had these for around a year now and they have performed well in terms of comfort and waterproofness. The inner of the shoe has worn slightly, but I think it can survive another couple of years with some water reproofing. Update: 11/12/17: I've had these for over 2 years now and they are still doing a spectacular job. It's getting a little worn out now, but I can stretch it through for another year. Update: 27/12/18: Still going strong. Bought another pair for comparison but will stick to the currents for a while as they are still practically waterproof.
Comfortable even over long distance, supportive, breathable and weatherproof
PROS: exceptionally comfortable and supportive from the first wear, no need to wear them in. I bought a UK size 11 and they fit like a glove despite having one foot that’s a UK 11 and the other which is a 10. Feet stay totally dry in long wet grass and in deep puddles, haven’t tried anything deeper. Excellent grip particularly on slippery mud but also over rocky ground. Bought principally for dog walking but they’ve replaced my expensive full boot walking shoes as they’re just as comfortable and supportive but much lighter. Laces don’t slip. Walked 6 miles per day over the last 6 weeks, often double that at weekends, on a mixture of bridle ways and footpaths and no discernible wear. CONS: none really, save that they’re fairly uninteresting to look at. Hardly a complaint though. They’re excellent value. If you found this review helpful, I’d be grateful if you clicked ‘Helpful’. Thank you

Magnificent Merrell's - again ! My 6th pair over many years.
I am a long time 'Merrell fan' that always chooses Merrell's that have the vibram soul, as historically it's the soul in footwear that usually lets me down. Size wise, I know this fits me, as I tried it on in a shop on the high street. I have a broader foot, so Merrell's have always suited me in this area too. It sounds silly, bit unfortunately, sizing really only is a guide today, as depending on the manufacturer, I take shoes sized from 10 - 12, so, don't make assumptions, unless you specifically know the manufacturer and model of shoe you are purchasing. I purchased these for a recent trip to Iceland, and together with some reasonably thick woollen socks, they were perfect, with the added knowledge that should it rain or snow, the Gore-Tex lining would keep my feet dry. The Gore-Tex wasn't put to the test on this occasion, so that will have to wait for another time on these particular pair of shoes. As with all 'big name' manufacturers these days, one always has to stay alert. Long time fans and die hard users of many well known and often expensive brands are reporting the same thing - deteriorating quality and longevity ! (This usually, but not always, coincidences with a change of manufacturing facility/process or country that goes hand in hand with the deteriorating product?) I tend to purchase several pairs of Merrell's each few years, one pair for more better, casual going out (which lasts me for many years), one pair for the regular walking, every day out and about I do, and believe me, I live in them and wear them to the maximum. (I believe if buying a quality pair of shoes, they should be lasting more than 12 months !) I basically then tend to wear them until they get relegated to garden duties, then the bin. Having experienced both the non Gore-Tex and Gore-Tex version's over the years, I now just stick to the Gore-Tex versions, as it doesn't take much of a shower or very long in some wet grass, for the non Gore-Tex versions to soak through, but that's just my preference and opinion. Until my experience says differently, I am sticking with Merrell's. I hope this review has been of some help?
I have wide feet so these were easily the most comfortable
Bought these for long distance walking and general use. Spent a lot of time reading reviews and trying on shoes in the same category. I have wide feet so these were easily the most comfortable. I'm a size 9 and found them to be true to size. The padding around the ankle is definitely a lot better than any other shoe I tried. Build quality is also superior to most other shoes however the heel cup is very roomy and requires the laces to be pulled very tight to prevent heel rub on the stiching line inside the heel cup which left me with a lot of tension over the top of my foot. Merrell claim "out of the box comfort" which is true, I walked 7 miles the first time I wore them but they do still require a bit of time to soften up also the footbed in my opinion is very rough and created a lot of hot spots in various areas of the shoe. The addition of superfeet insoles has elimiated the hot spots and also tightend up the heel cup a little. After a fair breaking in period the toe box has softened to the point that a lot of it has started rubbing across the top of my toes not helped by the fact the goretex lining is very loose around this area. There appears to be plenty of traction although I've only really worn them on decent surfaced paths. All in a pretty decent pair of shoes but not 100% the comfort I expected.
Save yourself some trouble and go a size up
I bought these boots my normal size 9. They were too small from when I first put them on. So I sent them back and ordered size 9.5. These fitted well when I put them on and for the first 1-2 hours of walking. I also ran in them for 30 mins. All fine. However, after 2 hours our feet naturally swell a little and my toes started crunching against the end of the boots. Now I’ve used them 2-3 times and can’t take them back so I’ll have to sell them on eBay as used and I’ve ordered size 10 now. They are great boots but avoid the hassle and try one size up!

as long as I'd been impressed with these shoes I will give you some thoughts - pro and contra: pro: I am wearing 9'5UK so I choose size 10UK that fits perfectly. first impression on a foot it's like shoes actually carrying you. I read some comments that said it is not good for running, I found it is good enough, very light and comfortable. material and stitches quite expensive why I gave 5 star for value. protectors are good enough to protect your foot from the roots and stones on the road. contra: as it is not a high shoes some hikers may found it is not holding you ankle enough. Summary: it is very good shoes for short trips (I am doing 6-10 miles every day) on the hills and in the forest. if you need to walk for all the day it is probably better to look for something holding you ankle.
Decent shoe at a reasonable price, cannot comment on sturdiness other than saying they seem to be quite well made. Would have been a 5 star rating but for the fact they are made in China - if I had known that prior to ordering then I would have looked for something else.
I'm a size 12 with wide feet, these are slightly tight on the width, but not bad with thinner socks
These boots just survived Download Festival! It was very muddy and wet, but these boots held up, no wet or muddy feet, really happy with them, slightly tight on the width but ok with thinner socks
