Better than others I've had.
Very easy to use. Fill, plug in and turn on. Very sturdy construction. Easy to refill if needed just watch out for the drip tray overfilling if you do. However it is very simple to empty during cooking if you take care. These steamers do cook rice effectively IF you follow the instructions. I tend to add extra time. The steam seems to permeate effectively. Like all cooking appliances they work best when they are up to operating temperature. Add a few extra minutes if you start from cold. Some people say the baskets are not crystal clear as shown in the graphics, but to be fair, it's not a problem. The plastic is slightly opaque but I find it more flexible and less prone to breaking, more durable and I think actually more heat insulating than the more brittle clear plastic. This model seems NOT to have those fiddly removable bases to the baskets. What a relief! Those things broke or came loose too easily especially when removing food. These baskets are ONE PIECE and make for easier serving and cleaning. Flavours. Its a steamer. Some flavours are bound to mix, just use common sense and some strategically placed tin foil. This model seems much more usable than previous ones. Its a simple design and the light grey to white appearance is clean and neutral. The timer is mechanical for upto an hour. Don't wind it forward to switch it off, just unplug it and wait for it to ping or clean it and put it away still ticking. Its always safer to do that anyway. The cable is an appropriate length at 1m. I haven't used it for long enough to assess the durability of painted on numbers on the timer. I'd expect them to wear with excessive cleaning but they seem pretty good to me.
Very good product - recommended without reservation.
Really simple to use. Day after receipt, steamed salmon in the bottom level with two different veggies on each of the other layers and at the end of the cooking time the results were really wonderful - and reminded me of how vegetables ought to taste but too often don't! Since then used for more dinners than not, although not got round to trying other main components (chicken or whatever) apart from the salmon, or (new) potatoes either yet.. But success with all the veggies tried thus far - carrots, mange tout, French beans, sugar snaps, sweetheart cabbage, cauliflower and calabrese, all crisp and tasty. The instruction leaflet is a model of how these things should be too - written by someone for whom English is a first language and well thought out. Would heartily recommend.
Healthy cooking alternative
I bought this to use for steaming rice, fish and vegetables. I have used it a few times and it works perfectly. It is very easy to clean. I would not wash the parts in the dishwasher but I have just washed them in soapy water in the sink instead. It first appeared very lightweight and flimsy but it is not at all. It works well and the 60 minute timer is clear to read. The machine sits neatly on the counter top but I had to move it to the other side of the kitchen due to the amount of steam it produces. The three baskets are useful as you can put potatoes in one, fish in the other as well as rice or vegetables. Do be aware that some liquid may run into the basket below so if you are steaming fish it would be best to use the bottom basket for that. The food in the bottom basket will also cook quicker because it is closer to the element. It is also easy to fill and refill. I will get the most use out of it around Christmas time and the size is ideal for a family of 3 or 4. It is handy then to have the 4 rings on the stove free for making other food. I bought it mainly for helping me make healthier meals and steaming food is a good healthy option rather than frying. I haven't had it long so I will update this review in the future.

Really nice well made steamer. Typically I did some destruction testing with some broad beans and boiled it dry almost first time out. Miraculously survived with very little evidence of my cooking incompetence despite looking like the inside of Chernobyl on removal from the hob.
Perfect Induction Pans
What seems about a million years ago I decided in a fit of utter madness to rebuild a house built in the 60's and do the 'Grand Design' nonsense. Needless to say, my time and cost plans went pear shaped pretty quickly. So much so that the old Rangemaster gas oven that I chucked outside was then rescued and put into an old leaky shed. Then drained and put back into service for my long suffering better 3/4 to cook with. Recently and about six years later - my wife finally has a nice shiny new induction range cooker. No fitted kitchen yet but that will come. I promise.. And of course, when you buy an induction oven the game changes in that those old pans that have given sterling service may no longer be of any use. Which is a rather long winded way to arrive at these pans. Both my wife and I like to steam our vegetables because A. They maintain better nutients and B. They retain a bit of texture compared to boiling. The other benefit is that you are a bit more efficient as waste steam is used to cook stuff with. And of course 'The Boss' insisted on new pans to suit that didn't break the bank, cooked well, were decently made and had handles that did not get hot. British would be a bonus as well because we try to support where we can. So here we are. Mission acomplished - mostly. First off Tower is a British brand but in reality they may have headquarters and perhaps design in the UK but the pans are made where everything else is, in the Far East. Thankfully the quality is good and these appear to be made of decent qualty stainless not Chinesium. The handles have a thermoplastic cover on them so you won't burn your fingers which is one essential box ticked. Next one is of course to be induction ready. Which these are. And here's a bit of information I gleaned from the new Rangemaster manual. For a pan to be able to be used on an induction hob it needs to have a large amount of ferritic metal so that the induced electrical current can do its thing. High quality stainless is no good or aluminium. Stainless pans that can be used on an induction hob have a steel insert buried in the base so that the induced electical field will do its thing. This is what these pans have. The other thing that is important with induction pans is that they should be as flat as possible for maximum induction effect. And if you look at the photos you will note that the bottom pan is dished. And this is correct. All decent induction pans should have a slight dish in the middle when cold. As the pan heats up the metal will expand and the bottom will flatten out making a good close fitting base. If the pan is flat to start with it will expand in the heat and then dish outward reducing the contact area and lowering its efficiency. So, when buying induction pans check that the bottom is slightly hollow to allow for this. Anyway, in use these heat up quickly and do the job well. They easily clean and the clear lid allows one to check the contents of the top pan easily. Overall for the price, hard to beat. In fact nothing I could find is as good value for the quality. Which is why I bought them I guess.
Decent little steamer
It's a little smaller than I expected, but I only cook for myself so it's no problem. I use it extensively for cooking fresh fish and veg (all part of a new, healthy lifestyle...), and it does the job very well - I can cook the fish on one tier, and the veg in the second tier. It doesn't leak much steam and cooks quickly. I'm pleased with it

one of those rare how did i live without it buys
a great way to cook at least the veg part of the meal and in some cases the meat too (from fish fillets to the less obvious frozen BBQ ribs (cooked wrapped in foil, meat fell of the bone, best ribs ever) used at least 3 times a week for 5 years so far and certainly in no danger of becoming a dust gathering ornament in the useless kitchen gadget cupboard (you know the one where where food processors go to die after 1 use and the resulting cleaning chore..) problems: limescale build up on heater in a hard water area, combat by squirting some cheap vinegar over the scaling every dozen uses oily foods such as mackerel will discolor the plastic trays, always use the lower tray for meats and upper pair for the veg unless you want three 'dirty' brown trays Change the water every use , don't just top up as floating particles that have dropped down can get into / clog the level meter section fills half the dishwasher but easier to give a quick rinse of the veg trays and three 'walls' , the meat tray needs a good soapy wash every time though (by hand or zanusi)

My first impression of this product was that it was flimsy and the parts did not fit together well. HOWEVER, after starting to use it I found that I was completely wrong - everything works really well and the component parts nest together very well for storage. Cooking with it is a breeze. Just get your timings right and you can produce a good meal in short order with minimum washing up. For instance, I like to steam new potatoes for 15 minutes then put a bowl of frozen peas in the same compartment with a salmon fillet on top, stream for a further 5-10 mins and Hey! Presto! a nice cooked dinner in 20-25 mins. Generally the components come clean with just a rinse under the hot tap. Delighted with this new addition to my kitchen. People are asking how big it is when stacked and put away. See photo - it's 280mm with the lid turned upside down.
Over 11 years of almost daily use.
I purchased this model in August 2010 and it has been used almost daily since then. The baskets have now deteriorated to a point where I have to replace them. Unfortunately, I cannot find them sold separately! I hate throwing out the still perfectly functioning base unit. Buying the identical product as a replacement is a no brainer. I have just placed my order. Be aware, that the basket bases do discolour over time. Carrots and other none green vegetables stain the plastic no matter how careful you are, but, this does not affect taste or functionality.
