Really impressed
I am so impressed with this product. When buying I was a bit sceptical but my concerns were completely unfounded. Concern #1: It wouldn't come with everything we'd need. Wrong! You need to buy life jackets separately, but this canoe comes with a hand pump, two (collapsible) paddles and a skeg (like a keel - which assists steering). You need nothing extra to get yourself on the water. Concern #2: It would take ages to inflate. Wrong! The instructions are straight forward and it took two of us about 5 minutes to inflate using the hand pump. The valves are designed so that no air comes out when you pull the pump nozzle out. It really was very easy. Don't over-inflate. The instructions say "firm to the touch but not hard". This is what we did and it was perfect. Concern #3: It would lose air in the water and we would slowly sink. Wrong! We had no issues whatsoever. It was as good coming out of the water after 2 hours as it was going in at the beginning. Concern #4: It would take ages to put away again. Wrong! We collapsed it after use and then re-inflated it when we got home, in order to hose it down. After a couple of hours drying in the garden I collapsed it and folded it up again very quickly. Concern #5: It would come in one of those bags where once you use it for the first time you would NEVER get it back in again. Wrong! Once collapsed and folded it easily fit in the bag together with all of its accessories. Concern #6: In use it would be easy to puncture. Well we've only used it the once but the river was quite shallow in parts. We had to remove the skeg (which took about 10 seconds to do) and even then we ran aground more than once. Yes, of course we were careful but the material seems durable and hard-wearing, so providing you are not stupid with it I think it will last well. Concern #7: It would be very unsteady and easy to overturn. Wrong! We certainly didn't try to overturn it, but it was easy to get into and out of and I was able to stand up (just!) to grab onto bridges and branches without too much of a problem. Overall we are really pleased with this product and can't wait to get out on the river again.
Easy to inflate
Easy to inflate, I took this out on the sea (a sheltered bay) although it was slightly choppy, the Kayak felt sturdy & stable. Paddles are strong. It was deflated & back in the bag in under 10 minutes. Great buy!
TLDR; best VFM, opens up a new world of water for little outlay!
This is the first time I’ve been compelled to review anything, anywhere. After the trip my 7 year old Son and I took yesterday,(our tenth voyage) I thought I should! First, it’s cheap. But it’s not nasty. Inflatable kayaks have been a hit this year and I’ve seen quite a few different ones on the water. At this price, the Intex is great quality. I’ve used it in salty tidal rivers and stored it (mostly wet) in the boot of my car for three months. Don’t let the price put you off - this is a good usable boat that will serve you a couple of years minimum. Its main enemy is strong wind. That’s true of all inflatable kayaks. It has a large front profile and requires effort if the wind is strong and you’re out on big exposed waters. On the river, it’s natural home, no issue. Whilst Inflatable, it is very sturdy. The base, for example, is solid enough to stand up on when inflated and in the water without the boat folding. This is of great assistance when getting in and out. The boat is extremely stable in the water, and you would have to make a supreme effort to tip it over. It’s handles small waves very well. The one design flaw that I really hate is the ribbing on the sides of the boat. The seam in the rubber is along the top of the sponsor. The standard paddles are also rather short. This means that you will brush your hand on the seam which can be painful if you are not careful to avoid doing so! 2 buoyancy aids will cost you the same as the boat but do get them, particularly with kids involved. There’s room for two 6 footers with a rucksack stowed at each end. I use it with my son, and we pack the kitchen sink for a day on the river. It’s a great way to get into boating on your local river or canal. For the money, it has delivered so many wonderful memorable times for my boy too. Best impulse buy EVER. Sorry, long review.

Impressed. Hope it lasts! Update April 2018: now been on the water on the local canal. Excellent kayak. Bargain!
Just purchased this for the great price of £69 ready to get on the water again in Spring 2018. Have inflated it indoors and very impressed. Easy to inflate with the two boston valves and comes with a comfortable seat, paddle, pump that works well and even repair patches. Not easy to get it back in the bag it comes with but as long as I can get it in and out of a car boot that's all I need. The real test will be to see how durable it is. Only intend to use it on still non shallow water on the canal or lakes so hopefully will last! The cycle of inflating/deflating and folding/unfolding will in time I'm sure compromise the structure but at the price I paid for it if I get a couple of years or so use out of it I will be happy! Looking forward to getting on the water in this beauty! I didn't feel the need for the insertable foot rest that comes with it as it cramps the legs in the kayak. I also did not inflate the bottom of the seat and tucked it in behind the backrest as I felt you were too high up in the kayak otherwise.
Fun, easy to use, super value for money compared to solid kayaks
This kayak is currently with me on a weekend break to Scotland. The first morning I set my alarm for 6.30am, on a Saturday! What could persuade me to get out of bed before 10 on a weekend? This kayak, waiting for me in the boot of the car. I carried it easily down to the water's edge of Loch Etive, the tough bag it comes in large enough to fit in a few extra bits and pieces as well as the kayak, pump and paddle. Because it's not a tight fit in the bag, unpacking on the rocks by the water was simple. Fearing the handpump would take most of the morning, I got to work. The kayak was fully inflated in a flash, ready to go with very little actual effort. The paddle clipped together easily, with an adjustable angle on one paddle end for people who know much more about kayaking than I do. Hoisting the kayak under one arm to take it to the water's edge, it was a manageable yet comforting weight. It handled being wriggled awkwardly into admirably; being fairly wide, it feels lovely and stable. The only thing left was to paddle out and enjoy the gorgeous Scottish summer day. Right now as I type I'm waiting impatiently for the sun to come up just a little more so I can take this kayak back to the water. Loch Etive opens to the sea and has its own small colony of seals. Let's see if I can find them! Under £70 to get out onto the water wherever you go? Well worth it.
Top!
Had this thing out on Ullswater yesterday, and it's just the job. It's lightweight, packs down really small, and it handles really rather well. I'm 6 foot, but had no trouble fitting in it. It's very stable, and there's plenty of storage up front. Paddles are more than adequate, and it even comes with one of these things in the photo. I've no idea what it is, but you can strap a tin of beer to it and tow it behind you. Overall, for £75 all-in, you can't go wrong. If you're umming and arring, just get one, you won't be disappointed. That's what I did, and I'm most pleased.

Love it.
I have an intex challenget Mk1 K1 and it has held up to a good beating for the last three years. I decided to purchase the Mk2 K2 because i will be using it for a week long excursion around the Norfolk broads and will be taking both the dogs(useless navigators but EXCELLENT ballast). The MK2 is an improvement over what was already an incredibly good kayak for the money. The MK1 didn't track very well and had no fin. The MK2 benefits from having a fin and it tracks quite well. The seats are improved and I prefer the colour. The material that the intex challenger uses is very, very tough. I have scraped along stony bottoms in shallow water, hit a jagged log that was submersed around 3" below the surface and i really thought that was it for the kayak. Nope. A long scratch but no breach. There is loads of storage space both aft and bow,the seats gives reasonably good back support but i would recommend that you fully inflate the back rest and only semi inflate the seat. This is simply because the seat sits a little high if fully inflated and the sides of the backrest tend to ride up against the inside of the craft. Or maybe I just need to lose weight...A few does and dont's; DO NOT overtighten the Boston valves that inflate floor and sides. If you cross thread them they will leak and that is about it for the kayak unless you want to be pumping it up every 15 minute or so. Turn the male part until it is finger tight and then maybe another quarter of a turn. They don't need to be tight for a seal to be created. DO NOT take this kayak out on the ocean unless you are absolutely certain of calm sea conditions,it is a low profile kayak and has no drainage. A few good waves and your going to fill up.DO NOT over inflate. You risk splitting the seams or stretching the body out of shape, causing it to list to one side. Use the 10cm calibration strip(you'll find it inside the manual package) and if you lose it,inflate the kayak up to the point that you can press your thumb into it about an inch.A little on the soft side will still float you 100% fine. DO use a lifejacket and invest a few pounds in a paddle leash. The paddles. I've read a few negative reviews on the paddles that are supplied with this kayak and i think that the users were either;A) clubbing other kayakers with them;B) unlucky to have got part of a dodgy batch. I like them. They can be feathered, the blades are a nice shape, they are quite light and as long as you use them sensibly, they will do the job..To conclude; This isn't a rubber duck. It is strong, portable(not too heavy, around 20lb or so)and incredibly good value for money when compared to kayaks three times the price(i have a gumotex Helios K1 that cost me around £350.Superb, but the Intex gives it a run for its money in the strenght department at LEAST),has a gaurantee and if used within the manufacturers stipulations, should last you for a good long while. Oh and the pump is pretty good.Inflation time of around 5-10 minutes. No hesitation recommending this kayak, based upon experience and not just what it looks like.Have fun and be safe!!
It Floats....
Bought this for meandering down our little ouze river at the bottom of the garden. Perfect for all days out, plenty of space and easily controlled. Very stable when sober. One point, don't go out in the middle of the night completely wasted with a mate and go for a paddle, You'll end up in the river soaking wet and half drowned just like we did, twice!
amazing fun for the price
Not had it out yet, just arrived, inflated in about 15 mins with supplied pump. i will update the review once i've been out on the water. local beach (2 mins from house) really if you fancy a go for ~£100 at discount, it is great value for money, feels sturdier than i expected. it does look pretty cool. pump is not the hardiest but if you are mindful of this and be careful it does the job had it out yesterday,15 mins bag to water, straight out on the sea on a solo mission i sat in the rear seat and zoomed about happily for a couple of hours. i also transferred it all over to a tent bag i had kicking about, little wheels at the back and a handle highly recommend for playing on the water this summer
